In our office, we make sure that you receive the highest level of service and ensure that our dental work is of excellent quality. To ensure that you maintain great oral health, this level of quality needs to extend into your personal oral hygiene routine. We can help you establish a dental hygiene routine that will keep your teeth healthy and white. In addition, your gums play an essential role in your overall oral hygiene. We can perform periodic cleanings (prophylaxis) and define recall visits based on current intraoral conditions. If you have any questions about your current hygiene plan please ask us.

Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)

Often there is plaque and tartar that accumulates on the teeth below the gum line. In this scenario, we will clean and smoothen these areas with special instruments to ensure that they are free from this calcified bacteria. If not done, the gum tissue in these areas will appear inflamed, may bleed, and bone loss between the teeth may result. It's very important to have your dentist check these areas if you bleed during brushing. In cases of more advanced periodontal disease, we may refer you to one of our trusted specialists.

There also exists a link between periodontal disease and systemic diseases such as stroke, heart attacks, and low birth weight babies. Diabetics may find it difficult to control their diabetes if plaque control is poor.

Oral cancer screenings

Oral cancer screenings are a very important part of the dental visit for the patient. We are able to pinpoint the start of a potential problem much earlier in its evolution. The ability to do so is extremely important in being able to treat any issues prior to them becoming a major irreversible problem.

Certain lifestyle choices can also have a great impact on the health of tissues and your overall oral health. If you are a smoker or heavy drinker, please be sure to have regular screenings when you visit the dentist.
